What to Watch
I’ve just had a chance to read The Future 100, a report by Wunderman Thompson Intelligence that snapshots consumer trends and changes to track in the year ahead (2021).
There is no failure to imagine here.
The report charts 100 trends across 10 sectors and is well worth the effort.

A few favorites to give you a feel:
Open Air Experiences will continue to capture investment and evolve as the new normal reveals itself outside. Examples include Little Island park in Manhattan and Copenhagen’s “park-ipeligo".
Data Sustainability will become more of a thing as the real cost of being able to search a billion records in one millisecond becomes transparent. Data centers consume massive amounts of electricity and carbon neutrality is already being claimed by some cloud service providers (but not Amazon).
Dark Stores, a new shopper-less retail format designed for online order fulfillment, will multiply. This means less friction in store aisles between cart-pushing shoppers and bin-wielding delivery agents.
Good right?
The source of the report, Wunderman Thompson Intelligence, is the “futurism, research and innovation unit” of the WPP agency of the same name. They offer bespoke studies, research, presentations, reports, workshops and to help their clients pull their futures forward.
