Osamu Yokonami
I enjoy so much these images by Japanese commercial photographer Yokonami Osamu / 横浪 修 /.
The series is called One Thousand Children.
The repetition and seriality was inspired by a visit to Sanjusangen-do in Kyoto, known for its thousand life-sized statues of the Buddhist goddess of mercy, all similar in size and appearance but unique in countenance.
The pattern repeats but each one is different, like the children in them.
The children are all dressed the same, in a black and white public school outfits. They are all posed the same, with a piece of fruit tucked the same way between their ear and their shoulder.
But each one is special in a fine way that one can feel when looking closely.
