Arrangement for Xylophone Choir
I love this arrangement of Philip Glass's "Mishima / Closing" for the season ending episode of Bob's Burgers.
So did Philip Glass.
He liked it so much that he tipped it into his "Happy Holidays" post on Instagram.
Bob's Burgers is an animated sitcom that centers on Bob Belcher, his wife Linda, and their three children, who together run a hamburger restaurant in a fictional shore town in New Jersey.
At first look, it might not be the kind of place one might expect to hear music composed by Philip Glass.
Mishima?
Mishima (the film) is a biographical drama based on the life and work of Japanese author Yukio Mishima, for which Philip Glass composed an original score.
Mishima (the soundtrack) is the third of Glass's string quartets, famously recorded by the Kronos Quartet. And now also by an animated Sixth Grade Holiday Xylophone Choir (the Bob’s Burgers arrangement).
Small wonder it resulted in an Emmy nomination.
