New Furniture

Over the summer, Herman Miller acquired Knoll for $1.8B and changed its name to MillerKnoll.

The combined companies are now responsible for manufacturing and marketing furniture designed by nearly every important designer of the previous century.

The work of luminaries like Charles and Ray Eames, George Nelson, Eero Saarinen, Mies van der Rohe, Marcel Breuer, Florence Knoll, George Nakashima - is still featured at the top of their stock lists.

But new company represents more than a portfolio of manufacturing rights.

It is also a collective of contemporary brands (Hay, NaughtOne, Muuto, Fully) that are shaping the the future.

This unique position makes MillerKnoll one of the largest and most-influential design companies in the world.

Andi Owen, the chief executive of MillerKnoll, describes it this way:  “Our industry—and the world in general—is changing rapidly. Design is the way we imagine and shape a better future. In coming together, we will define and lead this transformation, like we have other transformations in our histories.”

Under Owen's leadership the company will have to come together as one in order to realize its potential. But by deciding to go together, they are already on the way.
