マイクロメディア NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts
One thing I like about being home in America after living in Japan for five years is discovering ... NPR’s “Tiny Desk” concerts series.
TDCs bring a different lens (and microphone) to the audio content that NPR listeners hear broadcast over the airwaves every day.
The experience is more intimate. Less formal. If NPR is massmedia, TDCs are micromedia.
As a cellist, I really appreciated Yo-Yo Ma’s recent TDC.
He played only a few selections from the Bach Suites, and told a beautiful story about the “dual purpose” of the Saraband from the Sixth Suite.
