Japanese "Life Design" Magazines
Casa Brutus is a "life design" magazine that covers home-related topics from domestic architecture and renovations, to lighting, utsawa / 器 /, and plants.
It is published monthly by Magazine House.
The current editor is Toru Matsubara / 松原亨 /.
In addition to regular issues, Casa Brutus also publishes Mook books on lifestyle topics.
Recent topics have included a review of Japanese onsen hotels, a Kyoto travel guide, the British ceramicist Lucie Rie, and new style bookstores.
One of my favorite Mook books was published a few years ago, called "The Very Best Of Museums" / 世界のベストミュージアム /.
It carefully reviews a selection of the world's newest museums in Japan (Heisei Chinshinkan, 21st Century Museum, Teshima) and abroad (Louvre Lens, Vitra Campus, Fondazione Prada Milano).
I haven't gotten to all of them yet, but am making good progress.
