Sebastian Fehr
I like the idea behind Sebastian Fehr’s book, AAA.
AAA is a “theoretical thesis” that explores differences in writing systems between Japanese and Western cultures.
In the image above you can see the three A’s.
From Japanese POV - romaji, hiragana, katakana.
From non-Japanese POV - A ? ?
Beyond the culturo-alphabetical fun, the letterforms are exquisite.
Fehr is a Swiss designer working in Japan known for his collaborations with Kenya Hara, Lars Muller Publishers, graf Osaka, and Kyoto University of Arts and Design.
Fehr’s work with Hara at Nippon Design Center covers the range of visual identity, signage, book design, advertising.
