Design Thinking, IBM Style
IBM didn’t invent design thinking, but it made a significant contribution through what it calls Enterprise Design Thinking.
To explain it, IBM built a digital experience that introduces a framework, provides tools, and answers questions.
The framework is familiar to anyone who knows IBM - it focuses on user outcomes, restless reinvention, diverse empowered teams.
Their model for reinvention is driven by what IBM calls The Loop, a cycle of observing, reflecting, and making.
The Loop is visualised as a sideways-eight, the symbol for infinity. The Japanese word for infinite is むげん / 無限 /.
