I saw this new television commercial for Smartsheet while running on the treadmill at Equinox (no sound on shared TVs), and it was so good visually that I got off and ran home to hear the audio track.

In the spot a camera moves around a boardroom table in an office, from face to face, and a voiceover opens with a question: How do you spot a high performing team?

The script continues:

Is it the way they handle complex challenges that stands out?

Is it their ability to pay attention to little details while staying focused on the big picture?

Maybe you notice that their handoffs are smooth.

Their decisions are fast.

Their alignment is true.

And their deadlines are always met.

In reality, the best way to identify a high performing team is to simply ask "Do you use Smartsheet?"

The spot closes with a QR Code and Smartsheet's logo and brand line "Operate at peak human."

Of course you can also spot a high performance team because they are healthy and good looking, work in a sleek office with modern lighting, and all of their charts go up-and-to-the right.

But these context cues are in the background, and they add to the central message that Smartsheet is the choice of high-performance teams.

The Smartsheet product itself is software as a service for collaboration and work management, based on a familiar tabular interface similar to Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.

And this is not surprising because it takes data in in spreadsheet format and renders all kinds of useful timelines, task charts, etc. And it has integrations with Salesforce and Amazon Web Services.

Smartsheet is offered on a subscription basis … with no free tiers. 😢
